Originally from Saskatchewan, Mavis Wahl moved to Alberta to attend the University of Calgary. Following her undergraduate in Biology and Sociology, Mavis enrolled in Mount Royal University to receive her honours in both Massage Therapy and Athletic Therapy.

Mavis started out working with junior hockey as a trainer, and expanded into working with high performance athletes. Throughout her career she has worked with a number of Canada’s National Teams, which include 4 Olympic Games, Commonwealth and Pan American Games, Paralympics, and multiple World Championships. Mavis’ focus has been around the National Women’s Hockey Team, which she currently maintains the IST Sports Massage Therapy Lead for Hockey Canada’s Women’s High Performance program. As well she has worked over the years with Swim Canada, Para Swim, Para Nordic, Skeleton, Luge, Athletics and Bobsleigh. She is also the former Team Massage Lead for the Canadian Pro Rodeo Sport Medicine Team.

Mavis is one of a few Sport Fellow Sports Massage Therapists in Canada, and is a full member in good standing with the Massage Therapist Association of Alberta (MTAA) and the Canadian Sports Massage Therapist Association (CSMTA).

Mavis continues to work at the University of Calgary S U Wellness Centre, and is involved with the Canadian Sport Institute.

Although having a vast background in soft tissue rehab, her extra skill sets include Myofascial Release, Lymphatic Drainage, Russian Massage, Muscle Mobilization, DORN, and Cranio Sacral Therapy. Mavis takes a full body approach, including mental and physical aspects, to treating each patient.

Outside of a busy work schedule, Mavis enjoys golfing, curling, trail running, playing guitar, and spending time with her family (two legged, and 4 legged).
