Laurie is a biomechanical kinesiologist and 2200 hour registered massage therapist with a specialty in advanced orthopedic muscle treatments. Her interest in kinetics and functional movement began as an athlete at the University of Calgary. This interest lead to the pursuit of a Master of Kinesiology degree and a specialization in functional muscle therapy and biomechanics which in time lead to massage therapy as a complimentary discipline. On graduation, she continued her involvement with the Canadian Sport Centre in Calgary, various youth sport clubs and both the competitive and recreational sport communities in Alberta.
Laurie enjoys working with athletes (and weekend warriors) of all levels and specializes in kinesthetic therapeutic massage, sport massage, deep tissue, trigger point, rehabilitation, pre/post surgical, and fascial conditions (Dupuytren's contracture/Plantar Fasciitis).
An honours graduate, she is a member in good standing with the Remedial Massage Therapy Association of Alberta, is a certified Advanced Orthopedic Massage Therapist, is a certification candidate with the Canadian Sport Massage Therapists Association and holds certification in Sport Taping and Kinesiotaping levels 1 and 2. She is currently a PhD candidate working with non-surgical interventions for Dupuytren's contracture and is a member of the Massage Therapy teaching faculty at Mount Royal University. When not at the sports medicine clinic - she enjoys playing competitive tennis, watching movies and the beach.
