Dr. David E. Manning
Dr. David Manning obtained an Honours BSc. in Human Biology from the University of Toronto in 2003 before attending medical school at the University of Calgary (2003-2006). In 2008, he completed residency training in Family Medicine at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver. Between 2008-2012, he split his time between Vancouver and rural communities all over B.C., Alberta and Nunavut, where he worked doing short-term “locum” contracts providing clinic, hospital and emergency department coverage.
In 2013, Dr. Manning completed a fellowship in Sports and Exercise Medicine at the University of Alberta, Glen Sather Sports Medicine Clinic. In April 2014, Dr. Manning moved back home to Calgary to join Group23 Sports Medicine.
He is a member of the Canadian College of Family Physicians and the Canadian Academy of Sport and Exercise Medicine and has his Diploma in Sport and Exercise Medicine. He holds active medical licenses in Alberta, B.C. and Nunavut Territory.
This past year he has done work as a team physician with Hockey Canada and Taekwondo Canada and he also provides medical care for the Calgary Stampeders and Calgary Flames. He has clinical interests in acute sports injury, concussion research and management, and team/event medical coverage. In addition to his work in medicine, Dr. Manning owns and operates a fly-fishing guiding company (Westerlea Fly Fishing) and plays men’s league hockey.
