We are located at WinSport (formerly Canada Olympic Park) on the main level of the Markin MacPhail Centre (the large multi-colored building) on the west side of the park.

By Car: Exit Highway 1 onto Canada Olympic Drive/Bowfort Rd. and turn right at traffic circle towards the WinSport Park. Go past the main entrance (straight at stop sign) around the west side of the building, past the professional building and look for our multiple Group23 reserved parking signs in the south parking lot. There is ample free parking.

On Foot: Enter the Markin MacPhail building through Arena doors and turn right. We are right beside the cafeteria and guest services desk.

On the Bus: Take the #408 bus from Brentwood C-Train station straight to WinSport Park.

How do I book an appointment?

Call the clinic at 403-284-4040, send us an email at admin@group23.ca or click here to book an appointment with a physiotherapist, massage therapist, dietitian, or health & wellness coach. You do not need a referral to see any of those professionals.

You will need a referral to book with a Sports Medicine Physician or an Orthopedic Surgeon (Please see section below “Do I need a referral?”)

Do I need a referral?

You do not need a referral to see a physiotherapist, massage therapist, or dietitian. To book an appointment with our Sports Medicine Physicians, you need a referral or, you may consider our Accelerated Access Sports Injury Clinic.

In order to see one of our Orthopaedic Surgeons, a referral from another Orthopaedic Surgeon or a Sports Medicine Physician is required. Please ensure that the referral letter to see a Sports Medicine physician or an Orthopaedic Surgeons includes copies of all pertinent imaging results (x-rays, ultrasound and MRI). Your referral can be faxed to our office, and we will contact you directly once an appointment has been booked for you.

Please note that we can only assess one injury/one body part per visit. If you have more than one injury that requires assessment, please plan to book a separate visit for each. Another referral may be required.

Do I need to be an athlete to come to your clinic?

No, you do not need to be an athlete to come to the clinic. Whether you are a professional athlete, a recreational athlete or you just want to stay active for the rest of your life, all or our clients get access to the same elite level of care and are equally important to us.

How long will my appointment take?

The length of time of your first appointment varies from condition to condition. For your first appointment, we suggest that you give yourself approximately 45 to 60 minutes of your time in the clinic. For follow-up appointments, give yourself approximately 15 to 45 minutes.

Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your first appointment.

What do I need to bring to my appointment?

Your Alberta Health Card. Copies of lab tests, x-rays or other investigations pertinent to your problem, if available.

What should I wear to my appointment?

Bring a pair of shorts for lower body/extremity or back assessment Bring a tank top for upper body/extremity assessment

Is there a fee for my appointment?

Appointments with a Sport Medicine Physician and an Orthopaedic Surgeon are covered when a valid Alberta Health card is presented. We also accept valid health cards from all other Canadian Provinces and Territories, with the exception of Quebec. If you do not have a valid Canadian health card or if you have Quebec Health Insurance, you will have to pay up front for the consultation and follow-ups.

Physiotherapy, massage, and nutrition services at our clinic are not covered by Alberta Health. We offer direct billing to numerous private Group Insurance plans for your physiotherapy and massage appointments. Please ask our office staff for information on whether your insurance plan allows direct billing. For nutrition services, you will be required to pay for your appointments and submit your receipts for reimbursement.

Additionally, we no longer accept American Express (AMEX) as a form of payment at Group23 Sports Medicine.

We are happy to accept Interac/Debit, Visa, Mastercard, or cash.

What if I miss my appointment?

Your appointment time is reserved especially for you. We require 24 hours, or one business day, notice of a cancellation by telephone. Late cancellations or unattended appointments will incur a $100 fee for doctor appointments and 80% of appointment cost for physiotherapy and massage.

Is there parking available?

There is free parking available outside the clinic.

What are the clinic hours?

Hours: Monday to Friday 7:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. Saturday 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

What are the COVID protocols?

Group23 Sports Medicine is fully open for all of our regular services and procedures.

As a medical clinic, we continue to follow the guidelines from AHS for health care providers and patient care areas. These recommendations include:

  • no one should be coming in to the clinic if they are symptomatic in any way - please call and we will rebook you as soon as possible

  • patients may come to the clinic for treatment if they have been exposed to COVID as long as they exhibit NO symptom - we highly recommend masks for these patients

  • if you have Covid, you are required to abide by the Alberta guidelines, which are still recommending people to stay at home for 5 days and then mask for another 5 days
